Is there a free alternative to TripIt Pro?

For most of what TripIt Pro charges $49 a year for, yes. TripIt is unbeaten at one thing: forward a confirmation email and the itinerary builds itself, and Pro adds real flight-disruption help. Camipack never reads your inbox — you photograph the ticket instead — but it is free, it packs the family, and it keeps a map and your position working with no signal.

Which one you actually want

Most comparison pages are written by whoever is selling. This one names the cases where the other app wins.

Choose TripIt

  • Your bookings arrive by email and you want them parsed with no effort.
  • You fly often and want disruption alerts, seat tracking and fare monitoring.
  • You need web or Android — Camipack is iPhone only.
  • You want airport maps and terminal guidance.

Choose Camipack

  • You would rather not connect an inbox to anything.
  • Packing is the problem — a list per traveller, which TripIt does not do.
  • You want offline maps and your position with no signal, at no cost.
  • You do not want to pay $49 a year.

Questions people actually ask

Is TripIt Pro worth it?

If you fly often and your bookings arrive by email, the disruption alerts and fare monitoring are the strongest part of it. If you mostly plan family trips and pack for several people, most of the $49 goes on features you will not open.

Is there a free alternative to TripIt?

Camipack is free with no paid tier. It does not scan your email — you photograph the ticket and it reads it on the device — and it adds packing lists, offline maps and a budget, which TripIt does not have.

Can I add a flight without connecting my email?

Yes. Camipack reads a photo or PDF of a ticket, a boarding pass or an airline’s “manage my booking” page, and builds the flight from it. Nothing is uploaded.

Which travel app works offline?

Camipack downloads real vector maps for your trip’s area and keeps tickets, routes and packing lists on the phone, so it works in aeroplane mode — including the blue dot showing where you are.
